Director of Gender and Human Rights, Vision for the Blind
I was born in the Rofunkin village of Safroko Chiefdom, in the Karene District in the northwest region of Sierra Leone and became blind by measles at age 3. My parents were illiterate and did not know anything about education for the blind.
Fortunately, I was rescued by a philanthropist named AK Bangura of blessed memory who took me to the Milton Margai School for the Blind for admission. I am among the few blind people with university education in Sierra Leone and have committed myself to serve vulnerable people with disabilities.
