PhD researcher, University of Hull
Loria-Mae Heywood is a Guyanese national and PhD researcher at the University of Hull who is using a primarily legal approach in her drive to contribute to the prevention of the trafficking of children from Vietnam, Albania and Nigeria to the United Kingdom. No stranger to excellence or international travel, Loria-Mae received her Master’s degree in Development Studies from the Graduate Institute in Geneva, Switzerland where she had been awarded a full scholarship. She acquired her Bachelor’s degree in International Relations from the University Guyana where she was awarded, among other prizes, the President’s Medal as the Best Graduating Student. Complementing her stellar academic background is her diverse professional work experience which includes her work for the International Labour Organization, the United Nations Children’s Fund, and the International Organisation for the Least Developed Countries.
