Association for Liberty and Equality of Gender - A.L.E.G. Romania
Alexandra has been an activist for more than eight years in the field of gender equality. Her volunteer work started in high school, where she was part of the decision-making advisory in the student council at a regional level. In 2011, her collaboration with the Association of Liberty and Equality of Gender (A.L.E.G.) started with the Gender Equality Festival, before becoming a full member of the team in 2014. Since then she has trained volunteers for different projects, designed educational programmes, and implemented projects to empower women to step out of abusive relationships. Now, she is working to design a campaign that gathers stories from survivors of violence and encourages them to speak out about the phenomenon of violence. The project ‘From Victim to Survivor’ is one of her biggest accomplishments to date.
Previously, Alexandra studied psychology in Latvia and Italy, where she met partners for the programmes. She also worked in a Community Foundation for a year, doing fundraising and project management. In 2016, she was one of the scholars for the Women Deliver conference, where she had the opportunity to exchange ideas with the most influential leaders in contraception, reproductive health, sexual rights, gender-based violence and harmful practices.
