Scientist and Education Activist
Thuvaraka is a molecular biologist by training and completed her PhD studies as a scholar of the EU-funded International PhD Programme on Malaria Research. She chose to become an educational ambassador since she understands the difficulty of succeeding at German schools as a child of refugees.
Thuvaraka is currently with Teach First – a charity working to end educational inequality. She empowers young students from socioeconomically deprived areas and helps refugee children transition into the German school system. She took part in organising Germany’s biggest youth education event (Bildungsfestival) and is outspoken about systemic and institutional racism in the educational sector.
