Conflict Women, Ltd
Asiya is a graduate of the London School of Economics and Political Science. As a child, she was always passionate about helping others less fortunate than her. This led her to work with UNICEF, USAID and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where she represented the Government of Trinidad and Tobago at the United Nations General Assembly on issues related to gender, human rights, and peace and security. In 2014, she founded Conflict Women, Ltd., which provides free training, micro-finance loans and a monthly income to rape and domestic violence survivors in exchange for their hand-crafted jewellery. To date, Conflict Women has been selected as an awardee for the Idea2Innovation competition and the 1776 Caribbean Challenge Cup and as a grant recipient by the British Government and PSI Caribbean. Asiya is a TEDx speaker, a One Young World Ambassador for Trinidad and Tobago, and a recipient of the 2016 Women of Influence: Young Female Leader Award. She continues to persist despite the challenges she encounters on the entrepreneurial journey and recently embarked on an Executive MBA at the Frankfurt School of Finance and Management.
