Mónica Roa is an independent consultant. Her professional career of more than 15 years in the field, has provided her with innovative perspectives and the uniquely combined skills of an attorney, a communicator, and a political strategist. She has vast experience designing strategic litigation; working with the judiciary; defending women’s rights, promoting sexual and reproductive health and rights; and promoting exchanges in the global south.
From 2004 to 2016 Ms. Roa worked at Women´s Link Worldwide, from where she transformed the landscape of the struggle for sexual and reproductive rights in Latin America. She obtained her law degree from the University of Los Andes in Colombia, and her LLM at NYU as a Global Public Service Law Scholar. She currently teaches at the Summer Academy of Human Rights at American University. She is a Colombian, and currently resides in Madrid.
