From 1992 - 2001, Susan worked as a training consultant and micro-finance program advisor for international NGOs, UN agencies and donor governments to provide access to credit for poor women. She received micro-finance training from Prof Yunus at Grameen Bank in Bangladesh in 1992 and went on to provide technical assistance and conduct workshops in team building, communications and micro-finance principles in more than 50 countries.
After moving to London in 2001 from New York, she chaired Learning for Life (schools in India and Pakistan) from 2003 – 2007, co-chaired the London Committee for Human Rights Watch from 2007 - 2010 and joined the Carter Center UK board in 2010 as vice-chair.
Currently, she supports and organizes events for a range of NGOs that primarily focus on human rights addressing needs of women and girls in southern countries. She is a member and alumni of the Philanthropy Workshop and serves on the International Rescue Committee - UK board and is actively involved with the International Crisis Group, The Fund for Global Human Rights, Gen Roméo Dallaire’s Child Soldier Initiative and Oxford Refugee Studies Centre.
