David Risher, CEO and co-founder of Worldreader, has been leading large-scale educational and technological advancement for over two decades. As general manager at Microsoft, he managed the marketing and development of Microsoft’s first desktop database. As Senior Vice President at Amazon, he helped grow the company from $16 million to $4 billion in sales.
Following his passion for education, David taught at the University of Washington's Foster School of Business where he was voted Professor of the Year by his students. While living in Barcelona with his family, he served as President of the Board of Barcelona's Benjamin Franklin International School and became a member of ESADE Business School’s International Advisory Board.
David graduated magna cum laude from Princeton University with a degree in Comparative Literature and earned an MBA from the Harvard Business School. He is a Draper Richards Kaplan entrepreneur, an invited member of the Clinton Global Initiative, and a Microsoft Alumni Foundation Integral Fellow. David speaks four languages and is an avid long-distance cyclist. On reading: “Reading is like a vaccine against ignorance and education is the answer to a better life for our children." His favorite books are C.S. Lewis’ The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe and Homer’s The Odyssey.
