Rukshana Rizwie has been a journalist for 14 years, with a career across three countries, and is currently a news editor at Sri Lanka's only national daily newspaper. Rukshana began her career at the Saudi Gazette, focusing on migrant workers in Saudi Arabia, their abuse, modern-day slavery, and trafficking. Many of her stories prompted diplomats representing the Philippines and Sri Lankan foreign missions to be questioned. Since returning to Sri Lanka, she has continued to work on the same topics, also including the trafficking of children. Most recently, she has worked with Zembla on an exposé of the smuggling of Sri Lankan babies out of the country, and their quest to find their biological parents.
