Orphanage Trafficking Survivor & Community Advocate
Joseph is a 20-year-old student and community advocate from central Kenya. After the death of his parents, Joseph was separated from his grandmother and placed in an orphanage. In the orphanage only one kilometre from his grandmother's house, Joseph and his brother were among dozens of other children who were trafficked and/or forced to work. In 2013, Stahili Foundation intervened and reunited Joseph and his brother with their grandmother and aunt. Today, Joseph is in college studying motor vehicle mechanics. He is also a mentor to younger care leavers and a community advocate, raising awareness about orphanage trafficking. Joseph has a keen interest in music and bicycles and is looking forward to furthering his studies after graduation.
