Project Manager, Connect North Korea
Park Jihyun is a North Korean defector and recipient of the NatWest Chairman Award for human rights activists. She defected from North Korea twice, first in 1998, and again in 2004 after being sent back to North Korea, and now serves as a project manager for Connect North Korea, an advocacy and refugee support organisation for North Koreans based in the UK.
In 2013, Ms. Park gave testimony of her experiences of defecting and of being imprisoned in North Korea’s gulags at the UN Commission of Inquiry's London hearings. Park also attended Trust Conference 2017. She now lives in the United Kingdom where she works as a North Korean Women’s Rights Activist, a Producer of Radio Free Asia, and a Chatterbox Korean language tutor.
