Student and Activist
Ahmad is a Syrian student who left Aleppo during the conflict. He studied English language and literature before fleeing Syria and went to the Kurdistan region of Iraq.Ahmad worked there as a volunteer teaching English in the Syrian refugee camps and later joined the UN to work for both the Syrian refugee response and the Iraqi displaced people response after Mosul fell to ISIS. His work gave him theopportunity to be in direct contact with people who have survived horrendous circumstances. He worked with Christians, Yazidis, Kurds, Arabs and Turkmans fleeing war in both Syria and Iraq.
Ahmad also had to flee Iraq as well due to the security situation and moved to the UK in July, 2015 embarking on a horrendous journey from the Middle East. He has now been granted asylum in the UK and since his arrival Ahmad has been working with various grassroots and volunteer groups - advocating for refugee rights and children refugees. Ahmad is currently studying for a MSc in Violence, Conflict and Development at the University of London.
