Vice President, Human Rights Journalists' Association Nepal
Laxmi Maharjan has been working as a communications person for the last nine years, advocating for professionalism in journalism, developing a knowledge-based society for national development and promoting public participation. At present, she is associated with the Human Rights Journalists' Association (HURJA) of Nepal as its Vice-President. She has been working for the promotion, protection, and respect of human rights through defending and building the capacity of journalists, to effectively exercise their constitutional rights and fundamental freedoms for collective campaigning through media in Nepal. She is assisting emerging journalists to write and report news from a human rights perspective within the HURJA network.
