State Programme Officer, Transforming Rural India Foundation (TRIF)
Shyamal has extensive experience of nurturing community leadership while piloting and driving scalable solutions for transforming rural India. Having a unique association with flagship national initiatives of India – including the Aspirational District Programme, National Health Mission (NHM) & Integrated Child Protection Scheme (ICDS) – he was in the core team that designed the first ‘Mamta Vahan’, a programme that facilitated the transportation of more than 2 million pregnant women over 10 years. This programme is credited with strengthening Village Health Sanitation and Nutrition Days (VHSNDs) in Jharkhand and delivering essential health services in nearly 40,000 villages. During the COVID-19 crisis, along with his team members at ICRRC, Shyamal trained and equipped 30,000+ frontline health workers and deployed 1200 live-saving oxygen concentrators in deep rural areas.
